Warhammer the end times vermintide Pretty, and pretty boring In vermintide you can play as 1 of 5 different classes either alone or with Warhammer the end times vermintide Pretty, and pretty boring In vermintide you can play as 1 of 5 different classes either alone or with other players… Neither way you play is free of frustration None of these classes really feel different as everyone gets a close and ranged weapon, so it doesn’t matter who you choose… Every level in this game is essentially the same… Run forward and kill the rats in your way… The levels are beautiful to look at, but exploring them is very dull There’s really no incentive to explore at all, and a handful of maps are easy to get lost in since this game lacks a map or any indication of direction… But either way you’re just finding your way forward and slicing or shooting at rats… It gets old fast… Each mission also has 0 checkpoints… So if everyone dies, you fail… no matter how deep you are into a level… During act 1 I had no issues with neither online players nor bot players… I would occasionally get a player too focused on running around rather than completing quests so they’d drag things out… but for the most part everything went smoothly… I’d get jumped by a backstabber or snagged by a strangler and my teams ai would come to my rescue… By time I got to act 2 however all of this seemed to stop… The bots in this game were like those annoying players not keeping up with me, so if I got caught in a bad situation that was it for me… they wouldn’t rush to heal me like they had been in the 4 missions before… And they’re completely useless as the end of act one transitions into more objective based missions that team ai don’t help with at all leaving you to have to carry every barrel, watching your own back. It has a lot going for it, the tavern hub and unlocks add to the draw/replay value of the game and the random loot system, whilst as mean as a Gutter Runner, is a key feature that sets it apart from Left 4 Dead. Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide is a worthy alternative to Left 4 Dead. Like the AI Director in L4D the game knows when you're slacking off or taking too long exploring, waiting around, so it'll push you harder. These special rats all pose different threats and require a variety of tactics to deal with effectively. As you progress through the mission you'll come under attack by various special Skaven, such as the Rat Ogre (think Tank from L4D), the Pack Master (A rat that hooks and strangles you), the slippery assassin rat of Clan Skyre (the Gutter Runner) and so on.
The controls are pitch-perfect and there's not a lot to learn in terms of the control system. Swords, axes, guns, bows, and magic to defeat smaller groups, or the occasional swarm as the rats gather in greater numbers to assault you. Combat in the game is pretty simple, you'll face off against waves of Skaven, using your chosen weapons. Yet for all its similar mechanics, Vermintide manages to add a bunch of new stuff to the mix and forge its own path thanks to some neat design by developer: Fatshark. I sunk hundreds of co-op and solo hours into the first game and the second. There's a lot of similar mechanics here, and why not, because for a co-op shooter - Left 4 Dead created a whole new genre of game and there hasn't been anything like it since. There's a lot of similar mechanics here, and It's hard not to make comparisons to Left 4 Dead when you play Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide.
